The Safeguarding of Children

We understand the importance of good classroom management plans. By planning lessons and giving them a good structure it allows pupils to be more relaxed and engaged in lessons. Good classroom management plans will introduce discipline and control, students will know what is expected of them and classroom disruptions will be kept to a minimum. Classroom management plans are usually planned by teachers themselves, as they know what will work best with individual students and classes. However some schools will choose to produce classroom management plans as a whole for all teachers and their lessons to follow. Schools will argue that the reason for this is because if classroom management plans are all the same throughout the school then this will provide stability and routine for all pupils to follow.

Teacher Training is such an important thing for all teachers. Some say the training that teachers go through at the start of their careers doesn’t fully prepare them for the real world of teaching. Many teachers do in fact leave the profession within the first five years of their career. This is simply not acceptable and is why more needs to be done for teachers to be fully prepared and equipped when they start teaching. Teaching of teachers also needs to be kept current and up to date, it is important for all teachers to have regular training.

Safeguarding aims to protect children and ensure that no harm comes to children. Obviously not all harmful situations to children can be prevented however safeguarding aims to prevent those that can. People who work closely with children or who may come across children in their work will often be taught the basics of safeguarding. This training will allow people to protect children as effectively as possible.

Safeguarding involves many different methods and techniques which all help to enforce safeguarding. People who work with children are normally checked before they are allowed to work with them, this check is to make sure that a person doesn’t have any criminal records or past history which will make them a risk to children. This in itself is a method of safeguarding. The training of people who work with children is also a method of safeguarding.

Everybody who works with children, including schools, agencies, welfare, charities, councils have a responsibility to ensure safeguarding is being enforced. Where there are concerns about the welfare of a child it is the duty of the organisation to make sure appropriate action is taken.
