Today’s world is all about technology, everyday we’re trying to better what’s already been done in order to keep up with ever-growing demand for a perfect technological experience. Video games play one of the biggest roles in the electronics and technology industry, so it’s no surprise that there is always high demand for jobs within that field. Nowadays, 39 million homes worldwide own at least two computers, not to mention televisions and games consoles to, making the games design career path a very lucrative one.

But what exactly defines a video game? Well, a video game is an electronic game that allows users to interact with it in order to gain visual feedback, basically allowing the player to control an aspect (often a character) in a game in order to gain specific goals and aims. The word ‘Video’ in ‘Video Game’ traditionally referred to a ‘raster display device’, however nowadays, thanks to the ever advancing technological world, the term ‘video game’ now implies almost any type of display device. Video games are played on what are technically called ‘platforms’ such as personal computers or video game consoles, these allow the player to play the games that have been created. They range from large mainframe computers to very small, hand held portable devices in order to give buyers ultimate versatility in their gaming experiences.


Video game development, like most forms of entertainment, often combines many different skills, which involves many different skills and skilled professionals. Jobs within this field include programmers, graphic designers, sound designers and even musicians. These days, with games and technology becoming more and more advanced, there’s higher demand for more unique fields within games design in order to create the perfect gaming experience, and it’s because of this that more and more people are starting to take games design courses, specially tailored to suit the games industry requirements.
